It’s a degenerative brain disease. There are four stages of CTE and Grant, my husband, had stage 3. My husband was an alcoholic, so his CTE symptoms were confusing to identify at first because they mimicked his other habits. This included forgetfulness, mood swings, personality changes, and vision changes. I think addiction and brain injury go together and can worsen the symptoms for both.
