Bob Stryer and Lori Golden-Stryer: From MCI Diagnosis to Hit Podcast

March 7 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm PST

Free

On Friday, March 7th, at 11 a.m. PT/ 2 p.m. ET, Bob Stryer joins Being Patient Live Talks with his wife, Lori Golden-Stryer, to discuss his experience living with a mild cognitive impairment (MCI) diagnosis. They will also discuss how that experience inspired them to start Living Our Best With Memory Loss, a podcast featuring Bob and Lori, which is for and by those living with cognitive impairment.

Bob, a former business owner working in furniture, supply goods, and printing, was diagnosed with MCI and vascular disease after having a stroke in 2019. Testing and MRI results also indicated mini-strokes before then that could have contributed to his diagnosis. Now 83 years old and retired, he stays busy working out, walking, fishing, co-producing their podcast, and boating. Bob believes that healthy eating, exercise, and good genes are key to living his best with memory loss.

Lori is the CEO of RIVR Media. She field-produces and post-produces and is responsible for the creation, development, and execution of innovative, original series for the company. She is an award-winning, Emmy-nominated Executive Producer and has been creating cutting-edge television for over 30 years. Lori joined RIVR Media in 1999 and helped create the hit series “Trading Spaces” for TLC, receiving an Emmy nomination for the show. During her career at RIVR, Lori has produced thousands of hours of television for various cable networks, most recently Sesame Street for HBO Max.

Through RIVR Media, Lori and Bob, along with co-producers Denis Lowe and SuAnne Cobb, who also live with cognitive impairment, work on the podcast Living Our Best With Memory Loss. The podcast features interviews with brain health experts, advocates, and people with memory loss. Deborah Kan was also interviewed by the podcast about creating Being Patient.

Bob and Lori have been married for 35 years and have two sons, one in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the other in Singapore.

RSVP to learn more about Bob’s experience with diagnosis and how the experience inspired the couple to advocate for others living with cognitive decline.
