Mark Sennet: Destigmatizing Alzheimer’s Disease Through Photography

September 12 @ 11:00 am - 11:30 am PDT

Free

On Thursday, September 12th at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET, photojournalist and Emmy-nominated film producer Mark Sennet joins Being Patient to discuss his experience living with Alzheimer’s — and his new photography project, which gives an intimate look at the human faces beyond diagnoses of cognitive decline.

For 25 years, Sennet worked as a photojournalist and celebrity photographer for Life and People Magazine. He has photographed royals, presidents, sports legends, and celebrities, including Muhammad Ali, Barbra Streisand, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and Cher. He was the special photographer for the movie The Empire Strikes Back and the official photographer for Spielberg’s E.T. Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2022, he and his wife Pam moved from Los Angeles to Roswell, Georgia to be closer to his family. Now, Mark and his daughter Lauren are now working with the Atlanta chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association to produce a coffee book of his photography to raise awareness and destigmatize cognitive disorders.

Also featuring some of his past photography work, the book will include recent photography of people living with cognitive disorders. RSVP to learn more about his experience with Alzheimer’s disease and about his upcoming photography book.
