Free
On Friday, May 19, 10:00 a.m. PT/1:00 p.m. ET, Rianna Patterson joins Being Patient to discuss her work with dementia advocacy in Dominica and throughout the Caribbean.
At age 18, Patterson founded the Dominica Dementia Foundation in memory of her grandfather, who passed away from dementia in Dominica. The foundation is a youth-led dementia charity supporting families and care homes affected by dementia, for which Patterson received the Queen’s Young Leader award in June 2017 for her commitment to Dementia advocacy.
Patterson also is a finalist of the Commonwealth Youth Awards for Development Excellence in the Caribbean Region in 2022 and an ambassador for CommonAge.
Patterson joins Being Patient founder Deborah Kan to share her experience advocating for dementia research and training in Dominica, and to discuss her new documentary film, Dementia: The Island Journey, a documentary film on dementia in the Caribbean. Tune in via Being Patient’s Facebook page to learn more about her advocacy work and how young people can change the face of dementia.
