Phil Gutis is a contributing writer at Being Patient. A former reporter for The New York Times, Phil has also served in senior communications roles for the American Civil Liberties Union and the Natural Resources Defense Council. In 2016, he was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s and has since written and spoken extensively about Alzheimer’s. In 2016, he served on the National Early Stage Advisory Group for the Alzheimer’s Association and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Association. He lives with his husband in New Hope, Pennsylvania, with a pack of dogs, two cats and a turtle.
