  1. In the midst of stage 4 major neurological and cognitive decline with my 79-year-old-husband.I feel like I am treading water and going down. There needs to be a kind of Primary Care for people with dementia to help we caretakers to know when is it the right time to take medical and financial power of attorney. When is it right time to take away the ability to drive. When is it time to pre-pay for cremation and more. And, how do we do all of this….WHO IS DESIGNATED TO HELP GUIDE US THROUGH THE MAZE?

    1. Hi Donna, thank you for being here. We understand how overwhelming this may be. We recently wrote an article on when it’s time for an older adult to retire from the roads which you can read here: https://www.beingpatient.com/aging-dementia-when-should-a-person-stop-driving/?utm_source=organic&utm_medium=social . Here’s another great resource for caregivers as they navigate the journey ahead: https://www.beingpatient.com/family-caregiving-icu-hopsital-tips/?utm_source=organic&utm_medium=social . Take care.
