How should a possible patient be reacting to/coping with a diagnosis?

If you’re anticipating an Alzheimer’s diagnosis or some form of dementia, share your thoughts about having dementia. How are you doing? How distressed are you with hearing that word (dementia)? How would you say you’ll sleep tonight having heard that word? How about taking care of your body and brain as you hear that word? We should be doing a more support assessment rather than just unloading the diagnosis. Tell me about the stress, your sleep, your social contacts, what you want to do for your body and brain to stay or become fit, and what to eat and drink, given that condition. From a support standpoint, what I want to find out is where you are right now. It’s important to have these conversations and foster this support early on.
