If the test “works,” does that mean I’ll have to live with the diagnosis and acknowledge that I have the disease starting at a much younger age?

Yes, we do want to pick it up early, even decades early. The reason is, we’ve spent so much time trying to develop therapies that reverse damages that have already been done. Once someone is clinically showing symptoms, this disease has been present for up to decades. And trying to undo damage is asking too much of therapeutics and drugs. We can’t go back and reverse time and damage to our brains. I do believe we need to intervene early, and yes it’s a chicken and egg problem, but ultimately my goal is to protect quality of life- it’s so much easier to protect it than reverse damage and go back in time
