What is the blood brain barrier?

The blood-brain barrier is meant to protect us by blocking toxins from getting into our brain, it can also prevent valuable substances from entering the brain, including potential Alzheimer’s drugs that could help eliminate beta-amyloid, the toxic protein that builds up in Alzheimer’s patients’ brains. Accessing the blood-brain barrier will allow researchers to deliver drugs into the brain more effectively.
