It would be a game changer. Not because Aducanumab is a cure – but it would be a start in disease modifying treatments for Alzheimer’s. It would be the first, and we know that once we can get a foothold like that it then becomes easier to get a second and a third. We see this in almost every area of medicine, drugs become better and safer. We also know that because dementia is such a big field with many factors, all drugs don’t have to be anti-amyloid. We can begin research on an anti-tau, anti-inflammation, etc. This then becomes something that we can deal out early on in the diagnosis process which gives us a lot of hope.
